A Hyde School Alumni Success Story

This reflection comes from a Hyde School graduate whose five-year experience at Hyde shaped his confidence, work ethic, athletics, and stand-up comedy career.

Hyde School completely helped me, and I am beyond grateful I went there. I spent five years at Hyde, and it taught me to believe in myself and to turn my negative energy into something positive. It also gave me a work ethic far beyond what I ever thought possible.

Hyde saved my relationship with my (now deceased) stepmom and brought me closer to my dad, my brother, and my sister.

Before Hyde, I was angry, lost, running away, getting bullied, lying, and unhappy. I had no direction.

I’m 47 years old now, and I still think about the lessons that Malcolm, Jeff Kent, Bud Cox, and so many others taught me. There is absolutely no way I would be pursuing my passion for stand-up comedy if it weren’t for Hyde School.

Wrestling at Hyde truly changed my life.

It grounded me, disciplined me, and gave me confidence. For the past 15 years, I’ve been coaching kids and teaching them the same lessons I learned at Hyde—about effort, honesty, discipline, and heart.

Hyde didn't just help me. Hyde shaped me.
