A Hyde School Alumni Story
This reflection comes from Dr. Nelson B. Arnstein, Class of 1971, Hyde School’s first alumnus physician. His story shows how commitment, athletics, and Hyde’s character values shaped his life and career.
Hyde School Alumni Story

Hyde School has been so important for me that I have named Joe Gauld and his school my "third parent". I honestly believe that if it weren't for Hyde School with its incredible philosophy, faculty, and sports programs, I would not have succeeded in life.
It was a tough four years, especially early on when I had no self confidence and limited ability to relate to others. Lack of coordination made me realize that to win the approval of my classmates I had to excel in sports. Academic achievement was taken for granted.

Four years later I graduated with three school sports records, first in class academically, and the confidence to attend Pomona College, ultimately pursuing a career in Nuclear Medicine.
As Hyde School's first alumni physician I have kept a wonderful relationship with the school ever since!
