When I arrived at Hyde School in 2011, I had ambition but lacked a true understanding of how to handle adversity. My instinct was to seek the path of least resistance, a mindset that would have limited my potential. Hyde was the critical turning point because it provided a safe environment to learn a life-altering lesson: that meaningful growth is impossible without embracing discomfort. The school’s curriculum is not just academic; it is a framework for building character, and it taught me to see challenges not as barriers, but as opportunities.

This new foundation of resilience was tested almost immediately. After graduating, I was rejected from West Point on my first attempt—a failure that could have easily ended that dream. But the principles I learned at Hyde School gave me the confidence and strength to try again. That perseverance, forged in the discomfort of the Hyde process, led directly to my acceptance on the second attempt. This path ultimately defined my future, leading to a career as an Army Aviation Officer and now in investment banking.

My journey from a young man who shied away from difficulty to a career in finance was not accidental. It was the direct result of the principles I learned at Hyde. That is the unique and essential value of a Hyde education, and it is why the school has my unwavering support.
