A Hyde School Parent & Faculty Reflection

This reflection comes from Sean Ireland, who has known Hyde School as a brother’s sibling, faculty member, and administrator. His story illustrates how Hyde’s community and values have shaped him professionally and personally.

Unfortunately, I never attended Hyde School as a student. In 1993 my family announced they had found a great school for my brother, who was struggling in the local public school. They asked if I could attend a family weekend. The rest is history. In 1996 I joined Hyde School as a young faculty member. After attending law school, practicing law, and entering the administrative side of education, I returned to Hyde School to help in admissions and development approximately 10 years later. Every Hyde experience I had - as a brother/sibling, young faculty member, and administrator was an incredibly impressionable, supportive, and life changing experience. In each instance I was propelled forward as both a person and professional. Hyde School continues to be one of the most influential experiences of my life. I lean on all that I learned and experienced at Hyde as a father, partner, and community leader. I feel fortunate for my Hyde experience.
